Natural Paint Additives

Take your paintings further with a collection of simple, versatile ingredients drawn from natural materials. Whether you’re mixing watercolor or experimenting with your own paint recipes, these traditional additives help you adjust binding, texture, opacity, body, and finish.

Gum Arabic Powder is the perfect binder for all your paint recipes, including professional-grade watercolors or gouache paint. Both recipes are included on the inside of the envelope. It's made naturally from the hardened sap of acacia trees and dissolves in water to make an effective and non-toxic binder.

Limestone Powder (calcium carbonate) has been used for centuries to make gouache, gesso, and richer, stronger paints. Perfect for adjusting texture, opacity, and finish.

Marble Dust is a completely natural additive that increases opacity, body, texture and durability of paint without changing the color of paint.

Methyl Cellulose is a plant-based adhesive - perfect for bookbinding, sizing papers and fabrics, as a paint binder, thickening baths for marbling paper, paste papers and more. Dissolve in water to create a liquid adhesive that is non-toxic, vermin-proof, does not decompose, and dries clear.

About the Brand: Natural Earth Paints was founded in 2009 by a soon-to-be mom who had to work full-time prepping for a large solo art exhibition. She realized that she didn't want to expose her baby to all the toxic chemicals found in traditional paints. And so Natural Earth Paints was born. Drawing inspiration from the Renaissance masters, the growing green company uses all-natural materials to create magnificent pigments and sustainable, eco-friendly art supplies.
